I just returned from a most inspiring photography workshop led by Richard Martin, held at the historic Woodlawn Inn in the town of Cobourg Ontario. What a privilege it was to be immersed in the creative process in such a peaceful beautiful setting with a wonderful group of people.Stephen Della Casa, who is an accomplished photographer himself, and his staff created a warmly welcoming environment and presented us with elegant accommodation and delicious gourmet meals. Richard is a gifted teacher. He shared his expertise and passion for photography as a medium for discovering fresh new ways of looking at the world. His enthusiasm was infectious and energizing. We had such fun as he encouraged us to be to be playful and inventive. Richard was so genuinely interested in helping each of us develop our skill and unique creative vision. The locations we explored in depth around the lovely town of Cobourg provided us with abundant imagery to work with, and there was plenty of time for discussion, reflection and analysis in the distraction free environment of the Inn. It was such a positive, inspiring experience. It is no wonder people come from all over to attend his workshops here or that his many photo tours around the world are booked months in advance. The breakfast was really nice (not a buffet) and the cottage was great but the blanket could have been fluffier.
Great stay, amazing rooms,great breakfast, minutes from downtown and the best part was the price. 5 stars is too little to describe this wonderful hotel.
We went for the first time for our twelfth anniversary dinner and couldn't have been more impressed. From the impeccable and attentive service, to the perfectly delicious meal, thanks for helping make our evening special. And thank you to Steve for introducing himself and having a couple of nice conversations at our table and out at the courtyard. Beautiful place.
AC didn't work well but besides that nice place and good price. Front desk was helpful. Breakfast was good since it was included.
